Decolonising the Panorama of Congo

Museum application done as part of a paid scholarship consisting of two experiences where users could teleport around a reconstruction of the panorama of Congo and interact with audiovisual components and art pieces.

Main tasks:
- Develop user interactions with environment and objects
- Integration of 3D assets
- Creation of basic shaders
- Lighting and optimisations
- Stereoscopy in meta quest 3
- Integration of animations in Unity
- Sound integration using FMOD
- Hand menu interactions using hands as controllers
- Tutorial progression

Development details:
- Unity 2022 using C#
- XR interactions toolkit
- Oculus Quest 2-3
- ShaderGraph
- FMod

SpaceShifter

SpaceShifter is a Virtual Reality Puzzle game where the player takes the role of a scientist whose time travel experience has gone wrong. Solve puzzles, explore the environment and travel to a different time or dimension to find what you need to accomplish your goal.

Main tasks:
- Puzzle conception and development
- Environment interactions
- VR implementations using the Oculus unity package
- Motion recognition
- Sound implementation
- Lighting and optimisations

Development details:
- Unity 2022 using C#
- XR interactions toolkit
- Oculus Quest 1-3
- ShaderGraph
- FMod

Other VR works:

VR art exhibit - Fragile

Collaborative project with student from Lisbon's Faculty of Fine Arts to expose her artworks in a simulated exhibit titled "Fragile" where users could walk around and view the different pieces, as well as interact with a video projector.

Main tasks:
- simulation of real environment based on real classroom structure
- Implementation of art pieces made by client in the environment
- Study of post processing and lighting on HD Render Pipeline to test for feasibility of HD realism in VR
- Implementation of free 3D assets
- Interaction with a lightbox that allows for visualisation of art pieces using a magnifier
- Interaction with video and spacial audio in VR space

Development details:
- Unity 2022 using C#
- XR interactions toolkit
- HD Render Pipeline
- Oculus Quest

VR experience for psychology department

2 week project consisting of a game and research by the psychology department in which a gamified approach to agoraphobia was proposed where users were incrementally exposed to environments with a growing volume of people and activity to combat their fear.

Main tasks:
- App design and conceptualisation
- Environment interactions (objects and characters)
- Implementation of pathfinding for realism
- Implementation of realistic models and animations
- Smooth VR locomotion with joystick
- Sound implementation for immersion
- Lighting and optimisations to ensure smoothness

Development details:
- Unity 2019 using C#
- XR interactions toolkit
- Universal Render Pipeline
- Oculus Quest

* these projects aren't visually exposed yet due to licensing queries

The Better Pilot:

The Better Pilot is a two player Expanded Reality puzzle game based on "Keep talking and nobody explodes" in which both players have access to different interfaces filled with buttons, toggles, displays and sensors where they must each perform different tasks.

Main tasks:
- Outlined and designed playable prototype
- Programmed on Arduino Nano using C++
- Assembled physical interface
- Showcased at Over & Out 2022
